MYERS, James Fletcher - Putnam

James Fletcher Myers, 84, for many years a resident of this community, died at the home of his son Oval Myers near here Friday evening of last week following an extended period of ill health. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Chastain funeral home with burial in Roachdale cemetery. Mr. Myers was born near here on June 2, 1857, a son of James and Floranne Myers. He was married on November 22, 1882, to Emma Young who died several years ago. Surviving besides the son at whose home he died are another son Bruce Myers of this place; four grandsons; Robert E. Myers of Roachdale, James Lester Myers and Walter Lee Myers of Indianapolis and Oval Myers Jr. of near here; one great-grandson Michael Dee Myers of Roachdale, one brother, John Myers of New Brunswick and one sister Mrs. Sarah Bowman of Wyandotte, Michigan. Mr. Myers operated a farm near here for many years and was active in that profession until his retirement several years ago   --- thanks so much to Marilyn Walker for sharing her Roachdale Times obituary collection - greatly appreciated.
